Question:
My wife suffers from dark patches around her eyes. We
are of Indian origin. Can you please advise?

Answer:
Hi Ramjee.
Thank you for sending in your question. We have asked
Bharti Vyas who is an expert on Holistic Beauty to
answer your question:
Dark circles are a result of stagnated circulation
around the delicate eye tissue. It can be bought on by
factors such as lack of sleep or a disturbed sleep,
stress, medication or chemical changes in the body. In
addition if the lymphatic circulation around the eyes is
neglected, then toxins collect under the eye as if it
were a pocket.
Use almond oil to massage to around your eyes twice a
day. Use your ring finger, begin at the outer edge of
the eyes working in a gentle, clockwise direction moving
right along under the eyes and stopping briefly at the
point where the beginning of the eyebrow meets the top
of the nose and press for 10 seconds, release and
continue. This will help with the circulation and help
disperse the build up of pigments and give the tissues
surrounding the eyes a more even tone. You should see a
progressive difference.
Also, try using Garnier
Caffeine Eye Roll-On. It is enriched with caffeine and
Pro-vitamin B5, which helps to refresh and hydrate the
eye area.

Remember, make sure you get a good night sleep and
before you go to bed apply a cotton pad soaked in ice
cold water and apply it to the eyes, followed by a warm
water compress. This will bring blood up to the surface
and stimulate circulation around the eye area.
Don’t forget, it’s unlikely the darkness will all go,
however the pigmentation should disperse sufficiently
for you to see a good difference.
Also, make sure you drink a glass of water for every
hour you are awake, this will help to flush trapped
toxins from the body.

Question:
Hi Jenny. Having been a teacher all my
life - my legs have taken a battering. Now I am retired
I am going to try to do something about it! I have
developed a couple of varicose veins - which I know will
have to be attended to by a specialist. However, I have
a few tiny blue broken veins in the areas of my ankles.
I think these can be attended to by laser treatment.
As I am not in the UK right at the moment I was
wondering if there is a product on the market - a lotion
or a tablet I can take so they don't look so unsightly.
I suppose I am really looking for a 'miracle' potion -
anyhow I just wondered if you knew what I could do in
the meantime?

Thank you for sending in your question.
Alison Cullen, Bioforce Education Manager gives the
following answer to your question:
At any time your veins contain more than 50% of your
blood, which they have to carry back to the heart. The
veins that have the hardest job are those in your lower
legs, which are working against gravity and only have
the pumping action of the calf muscle to help them
propel blood upwards.
It is therefore helpful to ensure
that you do some calf muscle focused exercise (e.g.
walking) each day. Horse Chestnut seed extract can be
used to counter the heavy, aching feeling that
accompanies varicose veins, as well as the cosmetic
appearance.
Horse Chestnut seed has a toning effect on the venous
wall, strengthening it and working against the leakage
of fluids into the surrounding tissues. It also
inhibits the enzymes that break down the vein wall,
protecting the vein from further damage. It may help
with the appearance of broken capillaries (tiny blood
vessels) that you describe.
Ask in health shops or pharmacies for a licensed tablet

Julie Walters looks fantastic at
60
Julie Walters, who has recently
turned 60, has to be one of my
favourite actresses, she is so
versatile and entertaining.
She's played hilarious
characters such as Mrs Overall
with Victoria Wood, dazzled us
with Michael Caine in Educating
Rita and more recently played Mo
Mowlam in a Channel 4 film.
Looking rather
serious in this picture, you can
see that unlike many celebrities
Julie looks natural and very
attractive without having to
resort to the surgeon's knife.
Julie's hair is
beautifully cut with blonde
highlights and looks fresh and
youthful. She wears a well cut
jacket with flower patterned
braiding and matching necklace
and earrings to create a well
co-ordinated feminine look.
Julie's makeup is warm and
flattering, with a light dusting
of bronze blusher on her cheeks
and a soft shade of subtle pink
lipstick.
Her eyebrows are neatly shaped
and she has soft brown
eyeshadow, a little eyeliner and
mascara to bring out her eyes.
Her carefully chosen glasses
make her look smart and
sophisticated, and complete her
warm and friendly appearance.
I'm sure that after this picture
was taken, Julie was off
cracking jokes with her fans and
having a good laugh. I look
forward to seeing Julie in some
more of her brilliant acting
roles this year.
